Our Mission
BBAI works towards achieving its vision by providing an inclusive platform for its members to:
- Enhance community vitality and strengthen social connections
- Preserve and promote Bhutanese identity, culture, and values
- Foster partnerships and collaboration with institutions, organisations, and associations in Australia and Bhutan
- Protect, promote, and advance the interests and welfare of the Bhutanese community
- Create and facilitate programs, services, and resources for the benefit and well-being of the community

President

Leki Zangmo
Ms. Leki Zangmo, from Punakha, is an experienced nurse with strong leadership skills. Passionate about community service, teamwork, and continuous learning, she is motivated to contribute meaningfully and support organizational growth.
Vice President

Ugyen Namgay
Mr. Ugyen Namgay is a current PhD candidate at QUT. He is a social worker and public servant with over fifteen years of experience in leadership and management roles. He aspires to bring community development and positive changes.
Treasurer

Rinzin Dema
Ms. Rinzin Dema, a Ph.D. candidate at QUT, is a sessional academic and research assistant. Formerly an Economics lecturer in Bhutan, she is also a RIGSS alumna with leadership training experience.
Welfare and Community Service Officer

Sonam Tobgay
Mr. Sonam Tobgay, from Nubi, Trongsa, is a Food Technologist with over ten years’ experience. Passionate about community service, he has strong leadership skills, rural engagement experience, and values unity, resilience, and collective well-being.
Public Relations Officer and Event Manager

Chimi Wangdi
Mr. Chimi Wangdi, from Sarpang, Bhutan, has diverse experience in education, construction, tourism, and hospitality. A committed leader and community servant, he values teamwork, cultural preservation, and strengthening Bhutanese unity in Brisbane.

Ugyen Thinley
Mr. Ugyen Thinley from Nabee, Trongsa, served eighteen years as teacher and Vice Principal. With leadership experience and passion for culture, he aims to support, unite, and empower the Bhutanese community.
